The Columnist

I’ve just noticed that The Columnist theme is no longer available. My blog seems to have reverted to the default layout.

I’ve searched and found the developer selling The Columnist 2.0 and what looks like a free download of The Columnist 1.0 but I’m not sure if these downloads are for WordPress.org rather than WordPress.com.

    1. Can I use these downloads on WordPress.com? If so how do I upload it as I can’t see a directory structure as you would on a normal website such as where you have a hosted domain.

    2. When I try to download the 1.0 zip file I get a McAfee yellow warning about potential malware. Is this just McAfee being over cautious? (I’ve seen McAfee give false warnings before.) Here is the page with the download link:
    http://thecolumnist.info/download-theme/

    Cheers

    Jack

Could you please provide a link to the site you’re referring to?

The Columnist is a free theme and it is still available here on WordPress.com:
    https://wordpress.com/themes/the-columnist/

You can activate it either from that page, or from your dashboard, under Appearance > Themes.

Can I use these downloads on WordPress.com?

It’s not possible to upload third-party themes on WordPress.com. You must choose from the themes available here: https://wordpress.com/themes

Let me know if you’re able to get The Columnist active on your site or if you need further help.
