  How can i use a drop-down menu and normal pages as site navigation like shown in the theme description here

  i just get a drop-down menu or the pages in the header?

  You can do that by consulting the theme description here > http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/the-columnist/ Have you tried that?

  Just read what i wrote. I get either an dropdown or the navigation over sites. the question is if both is possible like shown in the theme description..?

  What question is this? You’re getting only a dropdown because you’ve added only one top level item (“Studio”). When you add more top level items, you’ll get more tabs next to “Studio”.
