I have recently been unable to leave comments on blogs I have been following now for some time. I have discovered that I am being treated as a spammer. How can I reverse this? I AM NOT a spammer – I have around eight blogs on which I contribute regularly

You need to tell akismet. I had the same problem. I’ve forgotten the link for it though. It happens when you regularly link to your old posts or reblog your own stuff. To keep it from happening again, try to make the site focussed more on others’ information expanding on yours instead of just adding on to what you’re talking about in previous posts.

Thanks, I’ll try to find a link for them. However, none of the reasons you have suggested really apply – I have never reblogged and run my site as a weekly musing column – random pieces which have absolutely no relevance to each other! But thanks for your response – much appreciated that someone out there cares!

There seems to be an ongoing problem with this at the moment and you are not alone. I was advised to contact askimet through their contact form but I’ve since been informed that there is a problem with this method that may not be resolved until Monday. I contacted Askimet support via the following address;

Have a look at this forum post jenny, there are many people experiencing this problem and it has nothing to do with linking to your own stuff, it is a problem with Akismet being overzealous!

We’re now told to be patient. Why couldn’t Akismet Support respond with a courtesy reply when I sent my first query? Three queries later and still nothing. So I was given this link by a friend. -
Thanks for the support, although I’ve just read your link and it makes for quite depressing reading!
I will send another e mail to Word Press on their standard form thing and see what happens. I’ve had no response to my first one.
I posted an article on my blog this morning about being thought of as a spammer and encouraged my blogging community to check their spam boxes, but as somebody mentioned on the other thread, there’s no point posting and reading if you can’t comment! Grrr! -
My comments aren’t showing up either, but how do I know if they’re going in to spam or just not being registered?
