    Hello,

Please refer attached link and verify the steps:-

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/forms/contact-form/

    Happy to help you :)

Hey @stuartdthorpe can you give more specifics? It looks like there’s no site at the address stuartdthorpe66.wordpress.com and the contact form on stuartdthorpe.wordpress.com looks to be working correctly (temp screenshot)

If you are concerned that the contact form is pre-filled with your details, that is because you are logged in to your WordPressdotcom account when you look at it. When I look at that contact page, I see my details in that form. You can test this by opening your contact page in a private/incognito browser tab.

Let us know if you need further help with this issue.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I have deleted and reloaded a new contact form, but same result. I fill in the form,or a friend does from his pc, hit submit and get wordpress message sent . Then nothing. Any further ideas?

Hi justjennifer. Thanks for your response. I gave you the wrong site address, which should have been ‘stuartdthorpe.wordpress.com’

I verified that it looks normal, ie not pre-filled in when I look at it incognito. A friend has tried many times from his laptop, submits the form, wordpress say ‘sent’ and I get no email. Am I doing something wrong. Could you send me a message using my contact form? Any other ideas?
    Thanks a lot
    Stuart Thorpe

Hello again, so the issue is that you are not receiving the email that the contact form generates?

-First could you please check your site’s feedback dashboard and confirm that the output from the form is listed there. https://stuartdthorpe.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=feedback

-Next, please check that the email address in your account settings is correct. https://wordpress.com/me/account

-Next, did you publish the page that contains the contact form? See the support guide https://en.support.wordpress.com/forms/contact-form/#notification-preferences

-If the above is yes, do you see your correct email address in the section on where the feedback should be sent?

-If all the above is correct and you are still not getting the feedback email, try adding donotreply @ wordpress.com (without spaces) to your email address book to whitelist it.

Let us know how that goes.

Hi. Thanks for all that. I confirmed everything and all is correct. I have given up on the contact form, deleted it, and will direct visitors to my email. This is very disappointing as a contact box saves any hassle or effort on the part of the visitor, and in my case, potential customer. We all know how everything has to work smoothly, and at once!

    Best
    Stuart

Hello again. You shouldn’t have to give up on the contact form so thanks for checking and letting us know that everything looks like it should be working correctly but isn’t.

If you still want to give this a go please put the contact form back and let me know when you’ve done that and I’ll tag this thread for staff assistance.

Thanks for your reply. I have put the contact form back but it is still not working.
    Hope you can fix it
    Thanks
    Stuart

Huh! There’s ESP for you. I was just testing this on my test site. :)

I’ve left a comment there, please let me know if it comes through to you as an email.

  • Hi –

Thanks for getting in touch. Typically, we don’t see many problems with contact forms.

The form is going to deliver that notification to the email address you’re using for your WordPress.com account – unless you have specified a different email address in the delivery setting for the form.

In that email account, double check your spam folder. Then, add WordPress.com to your contact list, this is going to help keep any communication from us out of the spam folder. Last, go to https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/updates and make sure those boxes are ticked allowing us to send you email communication.

Let me know if my testing comment came through.

Thanks for adding that last bit about notifications, staff-zinnia!

I do love some ESP! Looks like we need a touch of magic too! Still no go.

  • Hi Stuart,

I checked our email logs, and over the past couple days we’ve sent you several emails for contact form submissions on your site, including the forms Jennifer and Liz submitted while helping you above. Our logs also show those messages were accepted by your email provider, so if you’re not seeing them in your inbox, the problem is on that end.

Aside from checking spam, also please check any filters that might be set up on your email. Specifically, if you’re using Gmail, check the Social and Updates folders – Gmail automatically routes some of our emails there unless you specifically tell it not to.

  • Unknown's avatar

Hey, you nailed it! The messages are being put in the ‘promotions’ folder. Didn’t think to check there. . .Doh!

    Thanks everyone for your help.
I’ll let you know if there are any other difficulties.

    Stuart

  • Thanks for letting us know you found them :)

@stuartdthorpe – Glad to hear you were able to resolve this with @kokkieh’s help. :)

Here is what feels like a dumb question, but there you go, I can’t figure it out.
When I look at my ‘site pages’ I see The Second Coming (sample). I want to add this title to my home page along with blog and contact.
    How, please?
Apparently, it is published. . .

  • No worries at all; you can add that with your menu. Here’s a video showing how:
