The contributor can edit and post

I want to add my friend as a contributor, so I sent her an invitation. When she got it, she accepted it, and went to the site. She was able to make edits and add posts. I want her to be my co-founder. But I want to be able to review everything she writes before she can publish. I will be the publisher and editor, she will be the writer. Is there any way where she could have her own account that she can log into, and only be able to contribute? Because when she got the invitation, the site led her to my account.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Invitations do not lead to YOUR account. They lead to the blog you created. If you made her a Contributor, you will have to approve her posts before they go live. If you made her an Editor or Author, they go live when she makes them.

sounds like you sent them the log-in details for your account – make them have their own account

Ok, Thank you, but how do I make them have their own account without giving them a site? I tried to make a new account for my friend, but it said they had to have a site. I want her on MY site, not making her own. How do I give her an account without making a site? And also, what should I do AFTER I give them an account (again, without making a site) Thanks again! :)

the account only option is a bit hidden during the account signup process –

Once they have an account go to

Dashboard >> Users >> one of the options in there is to invite a user – either put in the email or better their account name

When you add a user to your site, you’re not giving them your site. Your account still owns thecraftsgirl.wordpress.com. You are simply letting other WordPress.com users work on the site in the capacity that is defined by their user role.

Hello, Thank you again for all your help! This is great! I just have another question. How can I give the contributor an account without giving them a site? I went to wordpress.com to try and make my friend an account, but it wanted her to have a site too. We just want to work on this one site. What would be the difference between using an account an email? Because when I sent an invitation to her email, she had access to my account. Would it be different if I set her up with her own account? My main question is: How to make her an account without giving her a site.

You can have either a public or a private blog and there is no limitation on the total number of contributors to any blog. If you’d like to invite others to publish posts or help approve comments on your blog, you can invite them to be a Contributor, Editor, or Author. If you want users to receive updates each time you publish new content you can invite them to be a follower/viewer.

    See here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/ and here http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/

The person will have to register a username account but does not need to register a blog. There is an option for creating a username account only please.

They will need to click the “Accept Invitation” button in the invitation email. If they are logged into their WordPress.com account, they will be taken directly to your blog. If not, they will be taken to the log-in screen, where they can either log in or create a new user account.

Note that users who create a new WordPress.com account at that point will still need to return to the invitation email and click the “Accept Invitation” button after doing so.

@timethief is correct. For clarification, please refer to the following:

When you invite another WordPress.com user to contribute to your site, you give them access to your site (their access level is defined by their user role), not your user account.
