the default font problem

    timethief was kind enough to send me the link to Pi’s chart of theme defaults, this-morning (AEST); but now I realise that all it’s done is cause HUGE confusion in my long-since addled brain.
    It’s like this: Pi’s chart tells me that Reddle’s blog/post titles are Georgia and its widget titles/reg. text Verdana.
    How the devil do I manage to set those two fonts as the base fonts for Reddle? – the custom design doesn’t include a single basic font.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    The base font on Reddle is Verdana already. To turn it to Georgia, add this:

    body, button, input, select, textarea {
    font-family: Georgia,serif;
    }

    OK, Panos – many thanks. However … what about the Verdana for the titles and body text?
    And what about the … ahh … basic philosophical (!) question of these default fonts? – the moment one has utilised the custom design font thinggy, one’s stuffed: a theme will NEVER revert to the defaults, come hell or high water.
    I would be tickled bloody pink to be able to have every theme I experiment with be able to be put back to its default font set before I even get started …
    OTY, genius. :-)

    I noticed you’ve asked about reverting to default fonts a couple times but hadn’t gotten the right answer yet. Well, it’s a snap:

    To go back to the default fonts, just click the “X” to the right of each font in the Appearance > Customize > Fonts panel.

    what about the Verdana for the titles and body text?

    Now, after you make the change to Appearance > Customize > Fonts to go back to the fonts, do you still want to customize some of the text to be different than using Georgia for titles and Verdana for body text?

    NO. All I have wanted for what seems like aeons has been to be able to revert to default fonts so as to see precisely what the designers meant the theme to look like before I started farting around with another one, thus bring the changes with me because of being hitherto ignorant of this wonderful WONDERFULLY SIMPLE little solution.
    :-D
    designsimply is a very long nick: in future I shall call you ds. Like tsp. But he will sometimes be called O Hatted Wonder. Like kraftbj is O Bearded One. [grin]

    The names “O Hatted Wonder” and “O Bearded One” are AWESOME!

    Aside: I’ve seen the tsp nickname for thesacredpath before, and it always makes me think of a teaspoon. :)

    Well, that oughta teach him to give himself a nick like that! – he’s going down in Support history as part of a recipe instruction!
    [grin]
