The domain I want is taken

  Hi!

  I want to have my own domain, and I would like it to be soph.com. Unfortunately WordPress comes up with the message: “Oh no! soph.com is already registered”. The thing is when I search it, the site soph.com doesn’t even exist. What’s the problem? I hope you can help..

  A whois shows the name is registered – but as you noted does not seem to be used – you could try contacting the owner and see if they would sell it to you at a reasonable price – if you do by the domain from the person make sure you use a reputable escrow service to make sure you get the name
