The domain I'm trying to register shows it's been deleted?

I’m trying to register layman.wordpress.com and it told me that it has already been taken. I then visited the site and it shows that it has been deleted by the previous owner?
What’s the way forward?

Addresses (URLs) for blogs that have been deleted by the owner will remain deleted. We cannot, under any circumstances, allow someone to take over the address of a blog that was owned and deleted by its original/previous owner. Please do not submit support requests asking us to do this.

You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.
