The domain name you entered is already mapped to a WordPress.com blog
-
I am trying to register an available domain that is already mapped to my wordpress blog. But the system won’t let me register the domain (even though the domain is available for registration per whois.)
By way of background, I had the domain registered via a different domain provider. I let it expire so I could register the domain with wordpress. Now, even though the previous registration has fully expired and the domain is again available, the wordpress system will not let me register it because it is “already mapped” to my main wordpress blog. There does not seem to be any way of “unmapping” a domain so that it can be re-registered and re-mapped.
I see that others have had this same problem and, in each case, the wordpress staff needed to cancel the previous mapping on behalf of the user. I am hopeful that the staff will do the same in my case so that I can proceed to register the domain.
(Alternatively, perhaps someone else can offer a different solution to this problem.)
Thanks.
