    do we have our dropdown menu or not?

    Yes, the edit option in the dropdown menu is back. If you don’t see it on your site, try clearing your cache and it should pop back up.

    We are working toward a clean, consistent menu bar across WordPress.com, while also making sure our users have the tools they need to do their best work.

    Making sure the users have the tools they need – and making sure those are the tools that the users have *said* they need, not what WP *thinks* they need – should be a much higher priority than how the menu bar looks.

    Along these lines: You should allow me to disable the “new, improved” editing screen and use the classic screen all the time, if I want. On that screen, I have access to more WP functionality, and I want access to that functionality!

    Maybe novice users can benefit from a pretty, simplified interface, but don’t deny me access to (or make me click between tabs for) the tools I’m paying you for.
