The Dyad Theme isn't working as it should be

I just started to build my blog with the Dyad theme but I am constantly having problems with it.
1. I wanted to use the slideshow on the front page to show a few pictures and text captions. I did everything the instructions said: I set up my own tag for the featured posts and used it with the posts that I wanted to show on the slideshow. But here’s what happened. Only one of them actually appeared on the front page. Then I wanted to take it off because it didn’t work on its own so I deleted the tag from the post. It didn’t help, the post was still showing on the front page. Then I deleted the “featured” tag in the settings and it finally disappeared. Anyway, the problem is that I couldn’t set more than one post to the slideshow.
2. I am using the categories-widget at the bottom of my page. I don’t want to show one of them so I went to the widget settings and wrote the category name in the space where it’s asking what not to show. But here’s what happened. Suddenly only two categories were showing at the bottom of the page, even though I only wanted to hide one. Again I went back to the widget settings and deleted my previous settings and then all of the categories suddenly appeared. So the problem is that I can’t hide one of the categories.
3. In the theme demo the sticky posts on the front page are smaller and there are three in a row. On my blog there are two in a row and they are huge. How can I change this? I want there to be three on a row.

1. check spelling and spaces. my feat. posts work fine with tag.
2. i don’t use categories.
3. the more posts you add the more you see. If you have only two posts the Dyad will arrange them to fill the space.
