The editor has encountered an unexpected error.

Hey all,
I’ve recently logged into my WordPress website after a week or so and found that I’m now unable to edit my pages – could someone please help me identify what’s causing this issue so I can continue to edit my website pages :-)

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

Hi there!
I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing. Do you see this error on all the pages you attempt to edit? Or does it show up on a particular page only? Could you share the link to the page editor so that we can take a look?
Thanks!

Hey @aisajib,
Thanks for the quick reply! It appears to be occurring on all pages, unfortunately. I’m wondering if it could be due to my Elementor plug-ins?
Page editor for one of the pages is below:

Thanks!

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out!
It’s quite possible – it looks like Elementor Beta is installed, which is classed as an unstable version of the plugin.
If you were to deactivate this plugin, are you able to confirm if this message resolves and you’re able to use the editor?
Many thanks in advance.

Hey there!
Many thanks for helping me to confirm that!
Following that deactivation, I was able to find the following error:
CssSyntaxError: <css input>:17:24: Missed semicolon at g.error (https://ifsystems.wpcomstaging.com/wp-content/plugins/gutenberg/build/block-editor/index.min.js?ver=7a6a1df140c4fe7830e1:1:94112) at e.exports.checkMissedSemicolon (https://ifsystems.wpcomstaging.com/wp-content/plugins/gutenberg/build/block-editor/index.min.js?ver=7a6a1df140c4fe7830e1:1:115103) at e.exports.decl (https://ifsystems.wpcomstaging.com/wp-content/plugins/gutenberg/build/block-editor/index.min.js?ver=7a6a1df140c4fe7830e1:1:117150) at e.exports.other (https://ifsystems.wpcomstaging.com/wp-content/plugins/gutenberg/build/block-editor/index.min.js?ver=7a6a1df140c4fe7830e1:1:118701) at e.exports.parse (https://ifsystems.wpcomstaging.com/wp-content/plugins/gutenberg/build/block-editor/index.min.js?ver=7a6a1df140c4fe7830e1:1:119430) at l (https://ifsystems.wpcomstaging.com/wp-content/plugins/gutenberg/build/block-editor/index.min.js?ver=7a6a1df140c4fe7830e1:1:113525) at new y (https://ifsystems.wpcomstaging.com/wp-content/plugins/gutenberg/build/block-editor/index.min.js?ver=7a6a1df140c4fe7830e1:1:97078) at s.process (https://ifsystems.wpcomstaging.com/wp-content/plugins/gutenberg/build/block-editor/index.min.js?ver=7a6a1df140c4fe7830e1:1:124965) at https://ifsystems.wpcomstaging.com/wp-content/plugins/gutenberg/build/block-editor/index.min.js?ver=7a6a1df140c4fe7830e1:18:19596 at Array.map (<anonymous>)It looks like the Gutenberg plugin was the issue in this instance, and deactivating this solved the problem.
This plugin wouldn’t be needed if you’re using Elementor. Are you able to see the editor?
Many thanks in advance.

Hey @aleone89,
Thanks for your help here. I’m now able to edit my pages, however, i’ve lost all my content, and the page editor is blank too. I seem to have lost all my work, can you please help me bring this back? I have a tight deadline to turn around this project and losing that much content and having to rebuild my pages will take time I don’t have :-(
I’m really worried I’ve lost everything, can you please assist me?
Thanks in advance!

Hey there,
Glad I can help – I went back in and it looks like the Gutenberg plugin was re-activated.
I deactivated this once more, and then I reactivated the Elementor Beta plugin, and it looks like this has returned the content.
I’ve activated Elementor BETA and it looks like this has returned the content.
I hope this helps to add reassurance!
