You can keep that blog on a free plan with a free subdomain sysirenadotcom.wordpress.com. Downgrading will not affect your content, however, you’ll lose all premium options like custom CSS and premium themes so, you may want to prepare beforehand and make sure you’re using a free theme and there’s no custom code.

Yes, you will want to make sure that the auto-renewal for the site and domain is disabled:

The password I have for the site is not recognized. It has been quite a while since I posted anything. I went to the blog but could not enter. I only want to save the content but since I no longer blog I do not need the services. Is there another way in, preserving the necessary security.
