The excerpt section does not appear to work? Any suggestions

  I have followed the instructions (Select page options – clicked excerpt – edit post – typed my excerpt in the excerpt section on the post). When I go back to my home page the post still displays the whole blog?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  – In the Customizer: https://wordpress.com/customize/
  – Choose ‘Content Options’
  – If your blog supports displaying blog excerpts, you’ll be able to choose under ‘Blog Display’ – Full Post or Post Excerpt.
