I need help connecting WordPress to Facebook. The Connect button under Publicize isn’t working. Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. When you say the Connect button isn’t working, do you mean nothing happens, or it tries and fails to make the connection?
In either case, please try the following:
Clear your browser cache and cookies: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
Also make sure you have third-party cookies enabled in your browser and that your browser is updated to the latest version: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
http://browsehappy.com/After clearing the cache, restart your browser and log in to Facebook. Next, log in to WordPress.com, go to Settings ->Sharing and try to connect to Facebook again.
Let us know if it still won’t work, but perhaps also try making the connection using a different browser first. Instructions for connecting Facebook are here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#facebook-profiles-pages

Hate to tag onto this post, but I’ve tried the steps in all the links, including different browsers (IE and Chrome) and I’m still unable to connect. I’ve successfully connected to Twitter and Google+.

@airmattdog
No problem with you jumping in at all. As long as it’s the same issue you’re not hijacking the thread ;-)Were you previously connected to Facebook? If so, the connection might still be active on the Facebook side. Go to Facebook. Click on the down-arrow on the far right of Facebook’s toolbar. Select settings. On the settings page, select Apps from the left-hand menu. If you see WordPress there, remove it.
Also flush your Facebook cache, in case something there is causing problems. To do that, insert your blog’s URL on this page and click Debug: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
Then try the above steps again.
If it still won’t work, or there isn’t a connection on Facebook’s side, at what step exactly are you having problems? Does anything happen when you click the connect button? Or is there no response at all? Are you logged in to Facebook when you try to make the connection? The more information you can give, the better.

@kokkieh Thank you for your help. I have tried everything you suggested and I am still not able to connect my WordPress to Facebook. When I go to Connect the two, it looks like it’s going to connect, but then this red bar comes up saying “! The Facebook connection could not be made.” I’m not sure what else to do.
Thank you.

I’m not near a computer this weekend (replying via my phone) so I’m afraid I can’t help you troubleshoot this further, but I’ve tagged this thread for staff to assist you further. Please be patient while waiting for their reply.

Same issue as jenbatty !!!

I was able to get it all straightened out by trying it on a different network. It wouldn’t work while I was at work, but when I tried at home it went through fine. Just did a test and it appeared on my FB wall.
Good luck to the rest of you!

@thatrobyn Thank you, I was able to connect WordPress to Facebook which is further than I could get before. Now it’s saying “There was a problem connecting to Facebook to create an authorized connection. You need to grant WordPress.com permission to publish to Facebook on your behalf.” The option didn’t pop up, though. I would like my blog posts to be automatically published on Facebook. Thank you.
-
JenBatty,
You need to grant WordPress.com permission to publish to Facebook on your behalf.
I tested your Connection, and it does indeed work.
It sounds as if you need to activate the WordPress app on your Facebook account. Can you go here, please:
https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=applicationsMake sure you’re signed into the Facebook account where you want your WordPress.com posts to appear.
Where you see, “Apps, Websites and Plugins,” can you make sure you see that this is Enabled? If it isn’t, please enable it.
Then, go ahead and finish your connection process here at WordPress.com. Finally, create a test post on WordPress.com to see if it posts properly.
Thank you!

Hi, I am having the same issue on my website (I try to connect to facebook using WordPress, and I get an error about not being able to connect to facebook). I am logged in to facebook, and my account is visible to connect to. The connection fails. Saying that, my Google+ connection works like a charm. Please help. My press is https://tonycadellphotography.wordpress.com/.
Thank You -
Hi, we have the exact same problem here, it would be great if you could help us, too.

Hi Everyone,
When setting up the connection with Facebook are you allowing the Permissions asked for? As described here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#facebook-profiles-pages
I’ve seen several other reports today of problems setting up Facebook on Publicize and wonder if those permissions not going through is the reason.
Please let me know if those screens are not coming up?
-
Hi,
Although I am allowing the permissions asked while connecting with Facebook, a red bar stating “The Facebook connection could not be made.” appears. Also, WordPress does seem to be available in my FB apps, I have tried removing it and retrying the connection, but doesn’t work for me. I had to manually share the link of my blog. Can you please check?
My blog name is sanjeetscribbles.wordpress.com
