The information about preformatting for INDENTATION is not working
-
How do I indent text? The preformatting method outlined for poetry writers results in each paragraph being in a single line. HOw can i create ordinary paragraphs with the first line indented?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Let’s start with the fact that first line indents are not the common practice in the web design of most blog themes and note that there is no switch to flip to make them happen automatically throughout your blog. If you wish to indent each and every paragraph in each and every post and page then you need to use the Text (HTML) editor to manually insert the proper HTML for each paragraph as explained here: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/06/19/formatting-text-pt-2/ (see first-line indents).
-
Are you saying that whenever I wish to indent a paragraph–say for a fiction excerpt where it is common for paragraphs to be indented–that I have to know how to use HTML and go into text mode and, add HTML requirements for each and every paragraph I want indented?
And are you telling me that for all WordPress blogs like mine, those who have some indented paragraphs must do the same thing for every blog post of that type?
If so, what if I don’t know HTML, and more importantly, wouldn’t that be unusually cumbersome for the creation of something simple and natural such as an indentation for a paragraph?
-
Yes, I am saying that the print convention of indenting every paragraph is are rare in the blogging world. It’s simply not the way the vast and overwhelming number of themes are coded to perform.
If so, what if I don’t know HTML, and more importantly, wouldn’t that be unusually cumbersome for the creation of something simple and natural such as an indentation for a paragraph?
The way it is is the way it is. You either use HTML in the Text editor to indent every paragraph or you don’t. The choice is yours to make.

And can you help me get some help with the more serious problem I’m having–mentioned elsewhere in support help. Namely, I cannot edit existing posts. The visual editing toolbar is missing and the boxed area where the text and images of the existing blog usually appears is blank.
I’ve used all of the recommended remedies and this option has vanished.

The visual editing toolbar is missing
See here http://en.support.wordpress.com/missing-visual-editor/

No, I apparently didn’t describe the situation clearly or correctly.
When starting a new post, both rows of the visual editor are there. It’s when trying to edit an existing post that neither row of the visual editor appears.
Not only that, but the blog content does not show up in the square space where it has previously appeared. In other words, there is alos nothing available to edit.
Again, I’ve tried the recommended remedies, without success. The only unusual thing I can think of is that, earlier today, I tried to copy and past from a document on my word processor without first using the button for pasting from Word.
I hope the situation is a little clearer now.

May we please rule out any browser related issues you may have?
If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache:
http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
If it’s still happening, let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/ and also post any error reports you get.

The after-the-fact post editing has returned. Thank you.
Earlier in the day, I had tried a number of your recommendations, without success. Perhaps it was the “always use HTPS” method that kicked things in.
Relevant may have been my installation of the new Firefox 21, though I had the problem both before and after the installation.
Thank again.

Uh-oh. BAD NEWS. A side effect of enabling the https is that my Outlook email wouldn’t recognize my password. After I disabled the HTTPS the Email is now fine, but, once again, I can no longer access the after-posting edit option.
Please note additional information I’ve been given on this matter from NBRADBURY. Perhaps there’s a solution to this.
