  • Hi there,

I see the proper sharing buttons appear on most of your pages, just not the home page. You can make them show there by checking the ‘show buttons on Front Page, Archive Pages, and Search Results’ in Settings->Sharing here:

    https://bauwen.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=sharing

If you’d like to remove the Like button, you’ll need to edit each page that’s been published, uncheck “Show likes.” in the “Likes and Shares” module below the page editor. If you don’t see that option, click the Screen Options tab in the upper right-hand corner and make sure ‘Likes and Shares’ is checked there:
    Screen Options

Let me know if you still have any trouble!

    hi

the like button is unchecked on all of my pages. It worked fine before and i’ve had no problems with this. suddenly it just decided to reveal its ugly head and not disappear!

  • You didn’t have Likes & Shares enabled in Screen Options. I enabled it for you.

Now if you edit any page and scroll down to the bottom of the screen, you’ll see the Likes & Shares module, where the like option needs to be unchecked:

    thanks!

um… is there a way doing it as a bulk action? the bulk action for likes is unchecked. it seems a bit crazy to into every page and edit it when it’s already been given as a bulk option…

is there any reason why the button suddenly decided to become visible in the first place (just so i don’t slip up and do it again)

  • Unfortunately, no. There are a lot of bulk action options, but not for likes and sharing buttons. But since you’ve chosen that they’re enabled ‘per post’ in Settings->Sharing, they should be off by default from here on out.

If they weren’t appearing on your pages previously and the suddenly showed up, I don’t know why that happened. It might have been that you had show buttons on pages unchecked before, but then you selected it for the print/email buttons to show. That also controls the like buttons:

thanks for your help. i finally got the lot unchecked

i was wondering if you knew how to move the share buttons to the menu bar at the top? it looks a little strange at the bottom of the page…

  • Hi there,

The share buttons are per-page, not per-blog, so moving them to the menu wouldn’t necessarily work. But if you wanted to add social media buttons, you can do that in a Text widget in the sidebar:
Add Social Media Buttons to Your Sidebar or Footer

You might be able to float the social media buttons to the top of each page using CSS, and you can ask for advice on how to do that in the CSS Customization forum:
