Hi there!
There are several ways readers can like posts, and not all are recorded in the same manner. For instance: Readers may like your post without visiting your site, for example on the Reader. Since they didn’t actually visit your site, liking a post in this way does not count as a visit.
Could you tell me which “likes” to which you’re referring? And where are you searching to find your number of likes?

Thanks, Robyn. I was looking at the ‘likes’ in the reader, and it was not consistent with the number of likes that were popping up on my phone. Generally those two figures are one and the same. Thought perhaps the reader was having a tech glitch of some sort –

Could you please clear the cookies and cache on your computer and then compare/contrast the Reader on your computer to that on your phone?
If the numbers still do not coincide, it’ll help me a great deal to see what you’re seeing.
Please create a screenshot, so I can better understand the issue. You can upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there.
