the ‘more’ button

how do i get a ‘more’ button under my posts, so that it makes my posts shorter?
i see a ‘read more’ button, but i don’t know how to use it!
if you see othermatters.wordpress.com — they have it — and they are using the regular wordpress server.
how did they do it? they won’t tell me.

Don’t know which text editor you’re using but I have the more button on the basic one that I use. You may be using the graphic editor.
You can cheat too if you’re stuck. The html code is:
<!--more-->I’d just switch to the text editor though. Being able to see the code makes things easier to most people.

Dashboard -> Users -> Your profile -> Personal Options (towards the bottom of the page)
When you go back to the write post page, you should see a list of text buttons across the top of the “post” box.
