The mystery of disappearing "likes"
-
First I’m notified that 17 people have liked a post and then about an hour later as second notification informs me that 7 people have liked the same post and 10 likes are removed from my home page at the foot of the post. Could you please rectify this. Thank you. The post in question is http://sarahpotterwrites.com/2014/08/14/neglected-structures-overgrown-places-02/
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Today, I have 38 likes in all, split between 2 separate places on the notification page — 17 on the initial notification and 21 on the later one. But what is displaying on my home page under the post is 15.
It’s all very well WordPress sending me a note to say my stats are booming, when it isn’t reflected in the number of likes displayed.

Hi Sarah!
Going over your latest three “Like” notifications, let’s break this down (oldest to newest):
“NAME OMITTED and 16 others liked your post – Neglected Structures &…”
At this point, this post has a total of 17 total likes.
“NAME OMITTED and 20 others liked your post – Wordless Wednesday…”
This is in reference to a completely different post (Wordless Wednesday – Mister, Please Give Me That Biscuit :-)). As of this notification, this post should have 21 likes, which it currently does here:
Wordless Wednesday — Mister, Please Give Me That Biscuit :-)
“NAME OMITTED and 15 others liked your post – Neglected Structures &…”
This reflects the number of current users that have liked your post overall, not how many new readers have liked your post. In this case, a few things could have happened. One potential scenario would be two people un-liking your post and someone new liking it, bringing the total tally to 16 total (as opposed to 17 previously).
It looks like the post is accurately reflecting 16 total likes now, which appears correct. Does that breakdown help to clarify the Like numbers?
