The Netli Admin Area

  • Unknown's avatar

I just tried to save a post I was writing and was taken to the direct.netli.wordpress.com sort-of Admin area.

Feedback is closed so there’s no way to report this except here in the forum.

I took a screenshot of the personality split: Netli Test on one side and “Howdy David W. Boles” on the other.

I had an error message I was not allowed to edit the Netli post.

The edited changes to my post were not saved when I logged out and logged back into my account proper.

I don’t know if this is related or not but it just took 32 seconds to publish a post.

Here’s a screenshot of the Netli Test:

The rest of the page down was white space.

  • This sometimes happens when there is a temporary connection error. Are you able to replicate the problem or was it a one time thing? Also, posting should not take that long :) Is it faster now?

    Hi Barry!

I saw the maintenance notice so I waited until that was over to answer you.

The Netli thing was today only. What is Netli doing with my blog when I save a post?

Moving between Admin pages is back to being slow again. From Akismet to Manage just took 18 seconds. To move from Manage to Editing today’s post took 16 seconds. To edit and then Save today’s post took 15 seconds.

There’s a couple of threads on the subject now. It’s a part of the internal network that has become exposed it appears.

    hi drmike —

Yes, I saw another thread that Netli is part of the inside we aren’t supposed to see. I was wondering why Netli was being invoked when I saved a post.

It’s sort of a curious experience having a strange blog address getting called.

I don’t know if stats are still being run from matt.wordpress.com or not but that was another head scratcher.

Not a clue actually. I noticed it a few days ago when I was importing an export for someone. *shrug* I just assumed that it was the machine name for one of the datacenter boxes. I’m used to seeing stuff like that since my own boxes are so named.

    AH-HA!

    Go here now:

    http://netli.wordpress.com/

You don’t get a “pseudo-blog” as I did earlier today. You now get a fine Admin announcement. Much beloved!

    Unfortunately:

    http://matt.wordpress.com/

Still reflects to a personal site and that’s rough because n00bs may not know who or what that site reflects when they see it called to load stuff.

I’m still seeing the following loading in my blog:

    http://matt.wordpress.com/js/admin-bar-6451166350126.js

It seems those things could easily be moved to Netli, no?

Couldn’t tell you. I don’t know their setup. I have enough issues with my own. (Looking for another backup box today and 14 more boxes)

Actually the CSS for most themes have been loading from Matt’s URL for many months now. Was that way when the CSS upgrade was introduced. I noticed it then but just assumed that it was that way so that if staff had to make changes, they only had to do it once from one location.

This URL seems to be taken but unused:

    http://automattic.wordpress.com/

Perhaps that could be used instead of the personal blog:

    http://matt.wordpress.com/

for loading stuff into our sites?
