The owner of the domain left the company but the domain is expiring. We have no clue how to renew the account as we have no access to this specific individual. Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

    hi,

You have to recover the account.
For account recovery, please fill out the account recovery form (https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery) and the staff will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

Here is the support page for more information on recovering your account:

    Recover Your Account

If you don’t have access to the email address associated with the account, in order to regain access to it, we’ll need one of the following things:

    * A transaction ID for any upgrades purchased for the account

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/transaction-id/

    * The WordPress.com account activation link, which we sent to your email address when you first registered with us. If the email you received included a confirmation button instead of a link, you can copy the activation URL by right-clicking on the button and selecting “Copy Link Address” (this text may slightly vary, depending on your browser).

Here’s additional information to retrieve the transaction ID if you don’t have the email receipt:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/transaction-id/#if-you-dont-have-access-to-the-receipt

Let us know if you have more questions.

    Hi hireacane,

Domains can only be renewed by the person that purchased them. Therefore I recommend you try and contact the current owner again and ask them to transfer ownership of toppelpeers.com and site to your account:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

Without any up to date contact details for the owner, you could try reaching them through social media or LinkedIn if they use those services.

Since you do not own the account used to purchase the domain, this may be a better alternative to the Account Recovery form — you will only be able to submit that with proof of ownership.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
