Hii,
I am trying to install a new theme (DORNA – https://wordpress.com/theme/dorna) and keep receiving the same message over and over again:
“The parent theme could not be found. You will need to install the parent theme, blockbase-wpcom, before you can use this child theme.”
With that being said, I already have the blockbase-wpcom theme installed. Not sure how to fix this.
Anyone who can help out?
Thank you in advance!

Hi there,
Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting.
To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions.
Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.
You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, using our migration plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpcom-migration/ and the site would need to be on the Business plan.
As it stands now, we cannot help since it is hosted elsewhere. The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help. Thanks!

I have the same issue and this looks like more of a sales pitch than real help. There should be some clear steps to rectify this. HELP!

Hi @davidru2 as mentioned above, we are a managed hosts, and just one of the many providers you can use to create a WordPress.com site.
However, we use a bespoke server environment and custom version of WordPress that does not rely on parent theme dependencies and does not display error messages about issues with parent themes. This is our primary clue that you may be using WordPress through a different provider.
Because we don’t use the same version of WordPress as you do, and do not have this issue on our platform, we are not able to help. If you are facing the same issue with your Launchpad/Hostgator site, you can find help here from folks that are more familiar with this kind of error message and how to troubleshoot it:
https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
Hope this helps point you in the right direction!
