The photos on my blog have disappeared

Has anyone lost the photos from their blog? Even historic posts no longer have the photos included in the blog. Mystified.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, have you recently decided to “tidy up” your Media Library or are those images still there?
https://wordpress.com/media/travelswithpinkel.wordpress.comIf you delete images from the Media Library they are also removed from the corresponding Post they were used in.
For example, looking at this post https://travelswithpinkel.wordpress.com/2017/07/26/north/ in both FF54 and Chrome60 I see image references (like P52707611) but no actual images. Trying to view the images directly from that post’s source code https://travelswithpinkel.files.wordpress.com/2017/07/p52707611.jpg leads me to a 404-Not Found error

Thankyou – that was the problem. Question – what is a ‘cache’ & how do I ‘cache’ my photos?
-
Hello again, I do see images now on your site.
A cache refers to both physical or virtual storage as well as the items in that storage. Where do you see this reference?
If you’ve deleted the images from your Media Library, they are not stored anywhere else on your site. That is what “permanently delete” means. Hopefully you have those images backed up on your computer or elsewhere so you can upload them again. If you don’t have those images backed up, you can try searching Googles images
https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1280&bih=860&q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Ftravelswithpinkel.wordpress.com%2F&oq=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Ftravelswithpinkel.wordpress.com%2F&gs_l=img.3…5276.8832.0.10277.6.6.0.0.0.0.172.596.0j5.5.0….0…1.1.64.img..1.0.0.6pcXTuukDlERegardless, you will need to upload and reinsert the deleted images to their related posts. Sorry for no better news.

Going forward, if you are concerned about dwindling storage space, you’ll want to resize and optimize your images before uploading them to your site. This both helps in saving storage space and enhances loading time for your visitors viewing your posts. More on that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/media/image-optimization/
For your theme https://wordpress.com/theme/twentysixteen the largest image size displayed is about 1200 pixels wide so your uploaded images don’t need to be wider than that. If you wish to have somewhat larger images, then 1600 pixels wide is a good size to work with.
Let me know if you have any other question.

No worries – I have put them back on (I have them on my computer). Someone mentioned that my pictures may be Cached (I suppose having them on my computer is cached?) – just another word for storage?
Thanks for your interest & guidance. I’m not very techy!!
