The preview turns out not to be the preview.

I look at the preview and I see one thing.
The email and online post is another thing.
Wordpress should actually work. This is annoying.

1. Before going into the buggy software, why isn’t there an undo button if you have selected a theme which you don’t want.
2. I tried a theme, but did not like the color palate, so I had to change it to another theme, since you can’t go back and re-choose the color palate.
3. Then going back to the new theme, it won’t let me change the color palate and keeps showing my webpage as using a theme and color palate that I rejected.
It seems that the software is about navigating around problems. Yes, I did refresh the pages, but if I have to do that, that also is a bad sign.
I am going to be Googling to see if WordPress is known for issues.

Even a brief search on Google shows that dealing with WordPress problems is a small industry in itself. I have wasted 30 minutes on this single issue and I am having a suspicion that working with WordPress means an endless series of issues.

Howdy –
Thanks for writing to us. I’ve reviewed the site but it’s not obvious where the discrepancy is happening on your side of things. It sounds like you’re not seeing a change reflected on the live site.
Are you able to get screen shots of this for us to review?
If I’ve totally misunderstood your question please tell me and share more details.

Let’s keep everything in one space. I have replied to your other thread here: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/the-preview-turns-out-not-to-be-the-preview/

Real time support can come through live chat as part of that plan. Some folks prefer to use that option versus an asynchronous forum or email.

You totally misunderstood it despite my taking time to put together a collection of screen shots with notes. I have work to get done this afternoon and evening.
I just tried it again and got the same problem.
Also, halt any investigation. Even if I work through this, I suspect that there are difficulties at every turn with WordPress. I think that is why there are all these WordPress help services offered everywhere.
Tomorrow I am going to decide whether to delete the account or not. I have a lot of work to do and spending hours trying to find out why stuff doesn’t work is not what I want to do.

I solved the problem. I did testing one way or another before the Live Chat managed to show up. That is indicator that they are either understaff or the users have many problems.
- The default doesn’t seem to be a choice. You have to go to another color set. This isn’t reflected in the documentation.
- The preview page for activate isn’t accurate, it shows some color choice you did before. So when you activate, you will get what you want, but the preview is totally wrong.
This software is full of little bugs and gotchas and weak documentation. To use it successfully will become a small hobby. I have other hobbies. I have work to do for the rest of the day, but I am going to reflect tomorrow and likely delete the site.

Hello there,
While I’m glad to hear you resolved the issue, I’m sorry about your frustration with getting started. Chat is a great way to get help and I’m sorry you did not reach it as soon as you wanted.
Would you mind sharing more about the overall vision for your site and the main actions you want to take next, so we can offer more personalized recommendations?
I noticed you haven’t had an account for long, and I’m unsure if you have previous experience with WordPress. But given a little time, it will become more clear how everything works.
There is some learning curve, but WordPress also has the power to help you make any site you want.
Again, I’m sorry about this initial frustration, but we’re here to help you achieve what you want.
Have a nice day!
