The 'recent posts' widget 'visibility' option doesn't seem to work.

  The ‘recent posts’ widget ‘visibility’ option doesn’t seem to work. If I select to ‘hide’ a specific category of blog post, it is ignored and all posts regardless of category are visible. If I select to ‘show’ only specific categories, the widget doesn’t show at all. Feels like a bug to me – any ideas?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
