The small button seems to be stuck, will not open up
-
Not able to bring up like, new follower and comments notice from upper right of page. Perhaps it is simply a tremendously busy time. I updated a comment shortly after receiving from England and the button that lights up to inform you that you have received a comment, like or new follower opens up with spinning top. I am thinking that updating the comment while the blogger from England was replying at the same instant may have caused the issue. Thanks Jerry Alatalo onenessofhumanity.wordpress.com

I am having the same issue – it was lit up all of the time, even after reading new comments or likes it wouldn’t go away. Now, clicking on the lit up comment icon just gives you a spinning circle and it never opens up. I am running an up to date explorer, having just updated it the last time you guys did an upgrade.

I am just guessing that reply was being sent to me from England at the same instant that I was updating this woman’s original comment. Same issue as lightly crunchy. Windows 7 no issues till now. Cache and cookies cleared. Thanks

@jerryalatalo
Windows 7 and which version of IE?@lightlycrunchy
Are you running IE10 on Windows 7?I’m requesting that both of you please undertake some troubleshooting and report step by step what you experience. Will you please both do that so Staff have something to work with?
If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache: http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies and JavaScript enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=126543. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
If it’s still happening, let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/ and also post any error reports you get.
(P.S. I’m running Firefox 21 on windows XP and I have zero issues at all. )

No issues but this one. Windows 7 | IE 10, Went through your four steps | Find no error messages | Everything you suggested checked | To repeat my description of what was occurring at the time, I had replied to a comment from a very nice woman from England, immediately edited my reply, and have a hunch that she may have replied as the edit was occurring and this caused the issue. That is just my guess. At this point the button is lit up as if someone just sent a comment, you hit it and the window doesn’t open, you hit it again and it is inactive (no longer lit up) and lights up in a minute or so as if someone sent a comment, in a sort of endless loop. Thanks for your assistance. Man, you guys must be busy! No Maytag repairman stuff! Appreciate your help and all you do. Jerry

Additional info / Don’t know if it will help you or not. Under posts where people hit like the faces / gravatars of the people are not visible and stuck at “loading”. Thought it might help you to be aware of that symptom. Thanks again, Jerry

Just noticed unable to “like” posts at other sites, same thing where no pictures of the people who liked , “loading”, / unable to press”like” button at other posts. Thanks

Hi there, we have recently received some reports of issues with the like button not working when using IE & Opera browsers in Windows. Please see this thread for more details and updates.
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/issues-with-notifications-and-likes-in-some-browsersIn the meantime, you can use Firefox, Safari, or Chrome as those browsers seem to not be affected by this problem.
