The space between paragraphs and lines on my blog is very spread out– help!

I am newbie, not super tech-savvy and had friends help me post blog posts. That said, I originally wrote my blog article in Microsoft Word. Once finished, the posts were copied and pasted onto WordPress. It looks now totally different. There is a lot of spacing between lines and paragraphs that shouldn’t be there. It looks funny (check out my blog to see what I mean). I tried alternating templates– same thing. Why does this happen and what can I do?

    Thanks!!! :)

I would copy and paste the text from Word into something like notepad on your pc and then copy and paste that into WordPress. Word will add some custom code when you copy and paste from there. It can be a pain but unfortunately that is how Word works. Would be worth the time to work on learning how to compose your post from within WordPress directly.

That happens precisely because you are using Microsoft Word. It is not compatible with the web, and inserts all kinds of invisible code tags that cause things to go wonky. If you must compose offline, use Windows Live Writer, which works similarly but you can add the title, tags, categories, and formatting. And it does not cause problems.

For now, delete all of the contents of that post; don’t just erase stuff using the Visual editor; click the tab to get to the Text editor and strip everything out. Then you can go back to your Word document and insert it but instead of copy/pasting, use the Paste From Word button on the advanced toolbar on the visual editor.

Paste from Word button. Hadn’t noticed that one before. Learn something new every day. :)
