  • Hey there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

I suspect there may be some confusion happening here with regards to which site is being accessed.

To double check, can you confirm the URL of the site being worked on please?

    Hi,
sorry for late response, it was too frustrating.
I don’t think I am working on the wrong site, how is that possible?

    https://newearth4you.wordpress.com
    https://newearth4you.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2&action=edit

You see its the same. The point is the theme isn’t applied, its a green one and the page is blue.
And I don’t see any option to change the Letters : “Coming Soon”

Also, whats further more crazy : when I want go to edit the Home Page (above the post=2..) there is text that doesn’t appear in the Home Page/Front Page (is here Home and Front Page the same?).
And the Text for the Home Page is somewhere else (can’t even find anymore) together with other text blocks or div containers, what ever, and its not labelled which one is for the Home Page.

And just being in the classic editor I can’t select there any text to edit it…

I assume that Theme is totally faulty. But I don’t want to change until you’ve checked out what’s going on here… thanks.
Or maybe I’m doing something basically wrong; So, what’s the secret here that even a former web designer feels completely helpless, as if his hands were cut.

If you’re seeing the “coming soon” when you visit your site while not logged into your WordPress.com account, that just indicates your site has not been launched yet.

Launching your site means you are ready to share it with the world, so you don’t need to do that until you’re ready for the site to be public.

For your site, since it uses one of the new themes that uses the Full Site Editor (FSE), there are two different places to edit your site:

    1. In Appearance -> Site Editor, you can make changes to the theme templates that would reflect any changes site-wide. For example, the Page template that you edited would have those changed shown on every page created under Pages -> Add New and existing pages under Pages -> All Pages.
    2. Creating and editing Posts and Pages created in the post editor. Pages created here can be set as your site’s “Home page” under Settings -> Reading. Currently, your home page is set as the page titled “New Earth Age”.

So the key here is when you’re editing the site – do you want every page on the site to reflect those changes? If so, you would edit the Page template. If you want to edit the information on a single page, then you would edit that page in the post editor.

I hope that helps! Let us know if you have any questions or are still having trouble.

There is a half transparent layer, but no control elements to set font sizes.
Something is basically missing here. I did work with WP earlier on existing pages, having control elements which are completely missing here…

and the field for the title of the home page appears as a menu on the other page: media test page.

That thing is full of bugs, hundrets … I hope its only that theme, waiting for respons

its not surprising that you can find blogs on the web reporting wordpress is a huge crp… big blsht
Sorry to say that but thats tooo much here. . .

  • Hi there,

There is no way editing text in the classic editor

You are using a newer theme that is designed to work best with the block editor, it’s not really intended to work with the classic editor. If you prefer to use that interface the I might suggest a change to one of our older themes instead. Do you happen to have any sites (does not have to be WordPress) that you are drawing inspiration from or trying to emulate? Perhaps we can use that site as an example to find a theme here on WordPress.com that might be a close fit?

There is a half transparent layer, but no control elements to set font sizes. Something is basically missing here. I did work with WP earlier on existing pages, having control elements which are completely missing here…

There is not a way to change the text size of words that are entered into the Classic Block. If you switch to using a standard “paragraph” block, that will have font size settings however. See: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/paragraph-block/#typography-settings

and the field for the title of the home page appears as a menu on the other page: media test page.

It looks like you have done quite a bit of customizing of your header since you activated your theme. Typically the menu is on the right on the Skatepark theme, but somehow you seem to have moved everything to the left, and then edited the menu, not realizing that it’s no longer the original heading block that came with your theme. You can see the original layout of the Skatepark theme for comparison here: https://wordpress.com/theme/skatepark/

Do you wish to reset your header to use the default layout? You can see if you edit your header (in the Site Editor tab) you can see that the site tagline is the section that is below your menu.

You can edit that to add text and then place your menu below that if you wish so the site tagline is above the menu. Or you can reset the header to move everything back to it’s original location.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
