The toolbar buttons won't align properly on mobile browsers.
-
Hello!
I’ve been having this problem for months. In October, I chatted online to a Happiness Engineer who said she’d report it to someone , but I never heard back from her. I’d really like to fix this.
Basically, the buttons of my toolbar align incorrectly on every mobile browser I’ve tested. But this only happens on my website. It doesn’t happen on the demo website of my theme, which is Motif. I’ve never had the premium plan, or the business plan, so I haven’t fiddled around with CSS. In theory, the CSS of my website should be exactly the same as that of the Motif demo website.
I distinctly remember the toolbar buttons being aligned perfectly on my mobile browser when I first started using the Motif theme. Somewhere along the way, the theme went funny, and it’s never come back.
Here are two screenshots of my website. One’s from Firefox for Android, and the other’s from the built-in Android browser:

I’d deeply appreciate some help on this as I’m completely stumped. It’s not the most serious problem in the world, but it’s getting annoying now.

Hi Haerin,
Thank you for the report and I’m sorry that you haven’t heard back from us sooner.
I was able to replicate the issue you mentioned on your site and found that the cause is that the option to “Show Avatars” is disabled via the following page:
https://munhaerin.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-discussion.php
You’ll notice that the issue can’t be replicated on sites that display avatars, such as the theme’s demo site.
I’ve reported this issue back to our team and will let you know when I hear back. If you’d like, you can also follow along with progress here:
https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/9643
We’re right here if any questions come up in the meantime.

I knew it had to be something simple like this! Thank you for giving me a prompt, accurate answer.
Since I don’t actually want to enable avatars on my website, I think I’ll just keep using WordPress.com with my current settings. I trust that you (or your team) will come up with a fix for this eventually. Please do let me know when you get a response from your team!
Thank you for shedding light on this problem, siobhyb. I’m very grateful!

You’re most welcome, Haerin. I’ll keep this thread updated. :)
Hope you have a great weekend!

Hello again. I’m just letting you know that this problem no longer exists. The toolbar buttons now align perfectly on mobile browsers when I view my website.
Thank you for taking the time to solve this for me. As I mentioned before, it wasn’t the biggest problem in the world, but it got annoying after a while. I appreciate the effort you put in to remove such a trivial bug.
Please feel free to close this thread. Again, thank you for your help!
