The Twenty Fourteen Theme lags heavily with the mouse

I applied the Twenty Fourteen theme on my WordPress.com site. However, the theme caused the site to lag heavily when using the mouse. I found this to be the case on all the PCs and different web browsers on which I tested the site. I even started getting complaints from our readers about the lag issue. I was forced to switch back to the previous theme. Unfortunately, the previous theme (now current) isn’t optimized for WordAds. The Twenty Fourteen theme had no lag issues when using touch (iOS, Windows Phone, and using touch on my touch-screen Windows PC). However, anytime I wanted to use the mouse, the lag was unbearable.

First of all, which site are you referring to? The site you have linked here, http://mcakins.com/, is not utilizing the Twenty Fourteen theme.
Could you provide more specifics concerning:
the theme caused the site to lag heavily when using the mouse
What do you mean by “lag”? Scrolling, opening new pages, loading images, or something else? When you tried different computers and browsers, were they all running the same operating system and were they all at the same location? Is this a PC/Windows specific issue or do you know of Mac OS or Linux users that also have had the same issues?
When you say “mouse” do you mean only an external mouse or any device including a trackpad?

Thanks for responding so quickly. If you notice my original post, I mentioned that I had started getting complaints on twitter from readers about the lag on the site and I had to revert back to our previous theme. The Twenty Fourteen theme was too laggy. But to help you troubleshoot the problem, I will be reactivating the twenty fourteen theme on the site. Please check the site again.
Now, by lag I meant scrolling issues. The site has really bad response time when I attempt to scroll using the mouse. It sometimes makes navigating frustrating. This is also true with trying to scroll with the keyboard’s arrow keys.
I tried it on various PCs and different locations. I used Chrome, IE11, Firefox on both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 PCs. On PCs with touch screen displays, I tried scrolling with the mouse, and it was lagging heavily. However, the moment I touched the screen, I could scroll very smoothly. The site also scrolls smoothly on my Windows Phone and iOS device (touch).

Thanks for the additional information. I’ve asked our theme developers to take a look. If you can keep Twenty Fourteen running on your site temporarily, that would be fantastic.

It looks like our developers been able to reproduce the issue and will be looking into it further. If you need to change your theme for the time being, that should be okay. I’ll keep you posted with any updates.

Thanks for taking a look at the issue. We were looking for themes optimized for WordAds, and Twenty Fourteen was one that fit our needs. The sooner we can use the theme the better!

Just to let you know – our theme folks have been looking into this issue. They have not yet resolved it, but they are aware of the problem.
