The use of HTML-codes and links

Is there any way that, for example, insert a slideshow or a clock to put my own personal stamp on the blog or a post. I want to use links as much as posible, and not fill my space with uploaded pictures, if I don’t have to.
I have tried to read my way through to a solution about why I can’t use the html-codes that other websites create (like Flickr or Photobucket). I can paste the link to the slideshow on Flickr, but I would like it to appear in my post.
I really like wordpress and I don´t want to find another blog only because of this … and it seems that wordpress does not allow all HTML-variants, just some?
Is there any websites that creates codes that WordPress can accept? How do I find those?Is this restrictions that are controlled by the free version? Will it disappears if one upgrade to premium?

It’s a lot to read, and my english isn’t so good. I can find som answers there, but not how I solve it. It’s like a jungle for me.
