The webmaster has passed away.

Hallo, we are an german association and have a free website on WP.com. Our webmaster passed away last year, and we can no longer access the site. We don’t have any login credentials from him. The support directed me to the forum since it is a free website. From his widow, we have a copy of the death certificate. Can someone help me?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ve already done that twice. Each time, I only received the standard response that they do not support free pages, and I should contact the forum.

Standard response:
It looks like you have a free WordPress.com account. Websites in our free plan have unrestricted access to our community forum. The best way to get help is to create a new forum post. If this doesn’t apply to you, here’s how you can get help:
- If you have a paid WordPress.com plan, make sure you’re logged into your account and contact us through this form. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
- If you’re having trouble logging into your account, you can reset your password here. If you still have login issues or are unsure of your account details, go to our account recovery form, and we’ll check it for you.
- If you can’t find your WordPress.com website, it might be hosted by another provider. In that case, you need to contact their support team. You can use third-party services to check where your website is hosted.
- If you have issues renewing your purchases, please reply to this email, and one of our Happiness Engineers will be happy to assist you.
- If you want to make a GDPR request, please reply to this email so we can assist you.
Thank you, WordPress.com Support help@wordpress.com

Hey there @mhillnerb301a1077f, sorry for your loss, and for the runaround. It sounds like the AI is telling you to contact us in the forums. Sorry about that! We’ll tell it not to in cases like these.
Can you clarify this?
I’ve already done that twice.
Do you mean you’ve sent an email with all of your contact info, the death certificate, and proof of authority to act on behalf of the deceased? If so we’ll reach out and have you send that once more. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I have sent the following email, including a copy of the death certificate, twice to help@wordpress.com:
Dear Sir or Madam,
The webmaster of our free website passed away last year. I have attached a copy of the death certificate. We, the Association for Youth Welfare and Social Work, are the operator of the Evangelical Youth Education and Meeting Center Hirschluch, which you can verify through our website. The support group would like to renew its website and therefore delete the existing one at https://freundeskreishirschluch.wordpress.com/.
Website: https://freundeskreishirschluch.wordpress.com/ Deceased webmaster: Andreas Kosmalla
Therefore, I would like to request the deletion of the subdomain and the web space that was managed by Mr. Kosmalla on our behalf. If any documentation is missing, please let me know and do not refer us to your community forum again.
Sincerely,And each time, I received the standard response as mentioned above.

Hi,
I have now received a response from the support team and have been asked to submit additional documents. They also mentioned that I should have already received the copy of the death certificate. I have now done so and sent it back to help@wordpress.com as requested.
And promptly, I receive the unhelpful standard response again, which I have received a few times before.

Hi, supernova, can you please review my response with the submitted documents to help@wordpress.com from November 30th again?

Thank you for reaching out! I’ve checked the status of your follow-up request, and it seems that the second document necessary for processing is still pending.
Since you’re based in Germany, it’s crucial to provide an Erbschein, confirming your status as the rightful heir or next-of-kin. Alternatively, a notarized statement demonstrating your legal right to the website is required. Verbal requests, unfortunately, do not meet the necessary documentation criteria.
Kindly ensure you secure the mentioned documentation and submit it to your follow-up ticket. Once received, someone from the team will review it and respond accordingly. Please note that they handle requests in chronological order, so there might not be an immediate response.
I hope this provides clarification! If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to let us know.
