  I get this ‘The ‘whats-new’ plugin has encountered an error and cannot be rendered.’ and my site does not work properly. Any help?

  I’m getting the same error message, but @staartmees unfortunately I don’t even know what it’s from, because I don’t have anything titled ‘whats-new’ in my plugins directory. Does anyone know what its parent plugin is so we can track down the proper dev’s support team?

  Update: I downloaded a backup of my site and searched for ‘whats-new’. It appears to be a child plugin for something called ‘full-site-editing’, which itself is a child plugin to ‘WordPress.com Editing Toolkit’ by Automattic, which is what you can see in your Plugins dashboard on the admin page of your site.

  I am new to WordPress and installed and activated ‘WordPress.com Editing Toolkit’ early. Had the same error. Thanks to your hint I deactivated and removed the Plugin and the error disappeared. In its description the toolkit says:

  ‘Warning: This plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress.

  This plugin is experimental. You’re welcome to try it, just be aware that it is only designed to work on the WordPress.com environment and could break after an update.’
