The wordpress blog address I want is taken but is not actively used.

The blog name I have is already taken but is not actively used. I would like organicwellness.wordpress but this has been taken although not been used since 2009. Is there anyway to contact the person to see if they no longer need it or is there a timescale of it being inactive but that allows it to be released? Thanks

Unfortunately, a blog address that is already in use can not be released. Even if the user deleted that blog address, it can not be recycled.
Your only option is to purchase a domain and map it back to your wordpress.com blog.

That’s not the only option. It’s the last resort and may not be necessary if the other blogger can be contacted and agrees to transfer the blog.
There is no expiration date on blogs unused, reserved or otherwise. In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.

Although it’s a long shot, it’s possible that if you leave a comment the blog owner may respond and agree to transfer the blog to you.
