The WordPress domain name I want is deleted, but I still can't use it.
-
Hey all,
I want to help my aunt move her photography business online. She wants the domain name to be blossomsphotography.wordpress.com, but it’s unavailable. However, when you look that up, it’s a deleted website. She’s not stubborn and we can definitely change up the domain name to make it work, but I was wondering why it was still unavailable when the site was deleted.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. Unfortunately, when someone deletes a blog that address is completely removed from the system and no one, not even the original owner, can ever use it again. This is done to prevent possible impersonation of the original owner of that address. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
That means there’s absolutely no way your aunt will be able to use that address. Try some variations on the address – something very close might be available. Otherwise, consider registering any free address and then buying a custom domain. The address you want might be available as a custom .com or .org address (i.e. without ‘wordpress’ in the URL), and visitors will see that instead of the free address. You can find more information on custom domains here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

We settled with something close, and as soon as we settle on some of the details, we’ll move to a custom domain name. Thanks a lot for your help!
