The WordPress Survey – Share Your Ideas!

A couple of weeks ago, WP shared an excellent blog post inviting all the WP users to participate in the yearly WordPress Survey, a brilliant opportunity to share your ideas! And as this is an Ideas forum, I thought it would be rather nice to share all of the ideas we submitted to WP between ourselves… get some healthy discussion going, share some cake, that sort of thing :)

The 2013 WordPress.com Survey: We Welcome Your Feedback!

My improvement suggestion was to resurrect the Showcase and Off Topic forums (one year on!). Despite the sheer effort which was involved in regulating the forums by the Happiness Engineers, it was such a magical place of community for the WP users. At the time WP wanted to encourage people to visit each other’s blogs instead of communicating socially on a forum, but OT was a perfect opportunity to find blogs I wouldn’t otherwise read.

Normally I’d only search for stuff like insanity and madness. With the OT forum I found a blog all about jam! Never in my life would I have searched for jam. This was the stuff of dreams, people. I do still miss the forums now and I do feel like the community which made WP so special has dissolved a little bit. I know some people don’t miss it at all… but jam, you know. JAM. That’s all there is to say.

So what about you guys- what were your improvement suggestions for the WP team? :)

I don’t disagree with you insanity since I belong to other forums where there is not bad self-regulation among participants.

Sometimes we do want to talk about blogging not point specific to a particular problem about wordpress.com at all. And in chatting, it may give ideas for bloggers to spin off on their own. There is already the Showcase like in ” Community Pool”.

Thanks for the support maidiebike, and sorry for the late response!

WordPress peeps, is there any movement on this?

My need to blog has capsised somewhat in the last few months, and of course the forum closure has nothing to do with this- but for those times last year when I perhaps didn’t fancy blogging, the Off Topic forum was an exciting place to communicate with people. It was all whimsical and off topic, naturally. I just feel like the sense of community has been lost a little bit. How am I ever going to discover mystery jam now, you know?

    I fully agree with you.

It was a place to take a look at blogs that are my neighbours and yet way beyond one’s own horizons.
