The WP videos are not loading
-
This is the error I get when trying to play a video on my post:
“Service Error: There was a problem getting the configuration information. Please try again later.”
That’s in Chrome. In FireFox, the area just goes blank, and nothing happens. In Internet explorer it stops at the first frame.
I’m wondering if this is a temporary WP issue, or something with the connection I have.
Are the servers at WP experiencing problems?
The particular video I found this issue with is here:
http://disperser.wordpress.com/2013/07/28/hummers-wars-2013-part-i/but I went to previous posts, and they all had the same problem.
I’m asking because I specifically paid for the option of loading my own videos so that it does not have to go through YouTube. However, if I can’t rely on the videos loading, it’s not of much use.
Understand I’m not complaining (yet). Right now I just want to resolve the issue, be it at your end or mine.
Thanks.

I cleaned out all the settings, cookies, saved data, cache, etc. for the browser, and it started to work again. Still not working well in Firefox, and halting performance on IE, but it played well in Chrome.
Would like to know what set this off. And hated losing all my settings and saved data, but selective cleaning of it had not solved the problem.
If anyone knows specifically what causes this behavior, I would appreciate knowing.
Thanks.

Hi there, the error you received was due to a glitch with VideoPress on our end. Sorry about that! We resolved the issue, so you shouldn’t receive that error anymore.
You mentioned that it is still not working well in Firefox and IE. Do you receive any specific errors when you try to watch videos there? Can you try clearing your cache and cookies in those browsers and see if that resolves the issue in those browsers? I’d be happy to keep investigating any remaining issues.

The video now runs in both FireFox and IE, however the issue in FireFox has to do with it not showing in HD (the option for HD is not there, and the video that is shown is of vary poor quality, as if it is out of focus). Unfortunately, that is at work, and it may be an issue with updating to the latest flash, something I cannot do because I don’t have administrator rights.
I forgot to check at home last night, but will do so this evening.
IE shows the video in HD, but it “skips”, meaning it pauses, then jumps ahead.
This may also be an issue with the work installation, and is also something I will check at home.
Thanks for the follow-up, and I will update once I know more, but for now I don’t have any other questions/concerns; the video runs just fine in Chrome here at work, so I’m inclined to think it’s a problem at my end, not yours. As I said, if I find out otherwise I will update.
