thanks -
It is not a WordPress.com theme. All WordPress.com themes are available here:
http://theme.wordpress.com/ -
-
The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
upload any third party themes,
create child themes,
create our own themes,
edit templates,
create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.Relevant support docs:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/You cannot upload any third party themes into a WordPress.COM hosted blog so be clear on that. There is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.
WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can create themes, upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database, etc. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.

Hello,
I just subscribed to a new blog and the free premium trial for 14 days but not sure how to change to the premium themes without having to purchase one? I thought I could just try it out -
There are no premium themes included in the Premium bundle of upgrades. They are included only in the Business upgrade bundle See here for details of all 3 plans http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/ offered by WordPress.com.
Premium bundle details http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/
Business bundle details http://store.wordpress.com/plans/business/ -
im confused as i have looked it up and it says i have a premium bundle already but how do i use it if it jeeps asking for updrades?
-
-
Premium bundles do NOT contain any premium themes. Only Business bundles contain them. Otherwise, we pay in full for the premium theme at the time of purchase.
-
do i get to choose my own theme or do have to pay again to use one
The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes
There are 176 free themes you can use. See here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sort/free/

@musicdoc1: Sorry, but I think your response only serves to confuse WordPress.com and WordPress.org (my answer about what themes can be used here was clear).
-
@galois,
Thanks for your input. My response was not at all confusing, except that I made a typo: “title” should have been “titled.” This is not the first time information was given to someone who came to the wrong forum and it won’t be the last. Staff not infrequently does it.With all due respect, we don’t really need members telling other members how to use the forum.

With all due respect, we don’t really need members who bring confusion about the purpose of this forum: information and solutions for WordPress.com blogs.
For WordPress.org there are already many forums, some of them excellent.
-
Or members who seem to regard posting in this forum as something of a competition. The question was already correctly answered by Galois.
-
@ metan1,
I certainly do not consider posting in the forums a competition. I had no intention of dismissing, or superseding, a previous post by providing useful information. It was merely a supplement.
You can redirect someone and provide the requested information at the same time. Withholding information when it requires one word to provide would seem to be a fine example being overly meticulous.
