  I have chosen my theme and customized them to my liking and have press saved but it did not turn up the same design when I press view site. Why is that so? Am I doing something wrong?

  Do you have the paid Custom Design upgrade? If you don’t, you cannot save the changes you make in the Customizer; you can only make changes you see on the Theme Options page.
