Theme 2014 – removing default auto hyphenation

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,
    In order to remove this, I know I have to go to CSS, which I have as I paid $79 this morning to upgrade to Premium just so that I could get rid of it. (A heavy price, huh?) Someone else on this board guided me to another question on the same subject to which a member replied with this (below). My question now is, do I delete everything in the box and replace it with this text word for word including the numbers 1., 2. etc? And how about spacing and / or capitalization? Not being a software writer (I am in fact a fully paid up technophobe) I’m a little afraid to do this in case I do irreparable damage to my website so any tips would be much appreciated. thanks. M

    1. p {
    2. -moz-hyphens: none;
    3. -ms-hyphens: none;
    4. -webkit-hyphens: none;
    5. hyphens: none;
    6. word-wrap: normal;
    }

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello,
    Since no one else has responded, I’ll jump in. Since you just upgraded, the only CSS in that box should be this:

    /*
    Welcome to Custom CSS!

    To learn how this works, see http://wp.me/PEmnE-Bt
    */

    You can delete that because it’s just a comment for you to read and doesn’t affect the look of your site.

    Copy-and-paste this in the box (there shouldn’t be any numbers):

    p {
    	-moz-hyphens: none;
    	-ms-hyphens: none;
    	-webkit-hyphens: none;
    	hyphens: none;
    	word-wrap: normal;
    }

    Or you can key it in, just be sure to include everything you see: the curly brackets, the hyphens, the colons, and the semi-colons. I’ve read that CSS is not case sensitive, but I’ve only ever seen lowercase used, so I’d stick with that.

    Rest assured, you can’t do irreparable damage changing the CSS on your WordPress.com website. The live preview in the Customizer lets you see what effect the changes will have before you commit to them. You’re the only person who sees the changes until you click the Save & Publish button. If you don’t like what you see, don’t click the button. When you’re happy with the results, then click it.
