Hi, I choose Snaps as a theme. Two questions, can I add a cart and PayPal to that theme? and How do I add the categories that I see on the preview of Snaps? Once I downloaded it I can’t see them.
    Thank you

    Hi there,

can I add a cart and PayPal to that theme?

There are multiple ways to sell things on WordPress.com, both for the Premium and Business Plan if you’re interested.

You can use Simple Payments, which require either the Premium or the Business Plan: https://en.support.wordpress.com/simple-payments/

Alternatively, if you have the Business Plan, you can install a custom plugin to sell things, with the most popular being WooCommerce. The Business Plan also has access to the Store feature: https://en.support.wordpress.com/store/

Every plan can use PayPal though: https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/

    Summary: https://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/

How do I add the categories that I see on the preview of Snaps?

Do you mean the “Categories” section displayed at the bottom of the demo? Have you created some categories and assigned posts to them? https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/

Once you have, you can assign the Categories Widget to your widget footer areas: https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/categories-widget/

Let us know if you have any further questions or issues. :)

    Thank you.
I’m confused by this when upgrading “Get a free custom domain name (example.com) with this plan to use for your website. Does not apply to premium domains.”
    What is a Premium Domain?
My domain is hosted at GoDaddy, if I upgrade to Premium will I be able to choose my domain?
Last time I tried WP, I bought a theme and got nothing that went with it.

    Hi,

I’m confused by this when upgrading “Get a free custom domain name (example.com) with this plan to use for your website. Does not apply to premium domains.”
    What is a Premium Domain?

I think WordPress.com staff can explain that better than I can, so here’s a quote from them from this thread.

A premium domain is a domain that costs more than the regular retail price for a particular extension because it is rare (two- and three-letter domains) or a highly sought-after domain (example: football.any_tld_you_care_to_mention).

So what it means when we say premium domains are not included in plans is that you can only use the free domain in your plan to buy a domain that is available at the regular retail price for that domain extension.

My domain is hosted at GoDaddy, if I upgrade to Premium will I be able to choose my domain?

I’m assuming that you’re referring to upgrading to the Premium Plan on WordPress.com, but I just wish to make sure that’s the case.

If you are, then you get one free domain credit. That means you could either register a new domain, completely separate from your domain at GoDaddy, or map/transfer your domain to WordPress.com. Mapping or transferring a domain to WordPress.com means that the domain name is the same.

You’re always then welcome to purchase any additional domains: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/

Last time I tried WP, I bought a theme and got nothing that went with it.

Personally, I’d wait until you’re completely happy with the design of your site until you transfer your domain to WordPress.com.

If you register a domain on WordPress.com, you only have 48 hours to cancel it and receive a full refund, whereas for the rest of a paid plan where you have 30 days. Therefore, the domain should probably be the last thing you worry about.

Please bare in mind: only sites with the WordPress.com Business Plan are able to upload custom themes: https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

Other sites can select themes from the WordPress.com theme directory: https://wordpress.com/themes/

However, it seems like you’re using Snaps now, but I just wanted to clarify that because Snaps is a free theme.

Let us know if you have any further questions or issues. :)

Thank you so much for clarifying.

I will research a bit more.

    Hi again,

    Does all themes support PayPal?

I like Snaps and is working on setting up my page using it. Just realized that if I can’t get PayPal, it’s for noting.

    Thank you
    Maria
