    Why do I have to upgrade to a package of $300 to download a theme I already paid for?

    Hi there,

    You may wish to consider using the self-hosted version of WordPress (which is used to set up sites on traditional web hosts like GoDaddy, Bluehost, etc.) to set up your site.

    To clarify, the version of the WordPress platform that traditional web hosts provide is different from what we offer here in that it is “open source” and completely DIY, but would also allow you to add 3rd party plugins or themes without any additional costs

    Please note that this version of WordPress is usually the choice of web designers and developers, as well as advanced users, so it does not come with support like you have here.

    Because WordPress.com is a managed service that takes care of everything for you (including access to support for your questions) you can enable the ability to add 3rd party plugins and/or themes to your WordPress.com site but to do so will require upgrading to our WordPress.com Business Plan.
