Theme and Ordering Problems

My new blog – m2b8.wordpress.com – is showing the first two posts in an unusual way.

I can see now that the theme – Hemmingway – puts the most recent post to the left of the next most recent and then moves them down to the ‘Recent’, but as you can see, this doesn’t make a lot of sense. In my blog, ‘What’s’ should go before ‘Ethics’ and be read in that order.

With a normal blog, while it is upside-down you can make sense of it. Hemmingway causes a problem there.

I don’t want a normal blog, I love the spare look of Hemmingway and showing ‘short’ pages is more productive, even if it does mean that I have to reference old posts in order to keep them alive.

My blog is hosted at WP.com so I have only the normal packages available.

Does anybody have any good ideas?

    Many thanks in advance

There is no “fix” for this that I’m aware of.
The theme has been hardcoded by it’s designer to behave this way. In fact the only one theme at wordpress.com I know of the Hemingway theme always displays only excerpts from two posts side-by-side on the front page. In other themes the more tag must be added using either the visual rich text editor, the standard editor or hand coding it into each post you that you wish to break the text into smaller segments in.

    (1) If you are using the visual rich text editor then the icon number to use is #13 and you use it wherever you want the text break to occur.

    (2) If you are using the standard editor click the [more] button wherever you want the text break to occur.

    (3) If you are hand coding type in <!--more-->wherever you want the text break to occur.

    (4) If you do not like the text that the theme is hardcoded to provide when you use the more tag you can change it by hand coding in
<!--more your text goes here more!-->

Thanks, it looks like I might have to change theme.

    Is is easy?

Do any of the others look as good as Hemmingway?

Your best bet is to check other issues.

I could simply add a trail to follow as a page, then direct people to that…
