Theme & background changed

Add topic to favorites
My theme and background changed on their own, a couple days ago—I did not do it, I liked my theme the way it was, it just did it.
I was able to find my theme and put it back, almost. The background will not change to the color I select. I click on the color, or write the color code in, then click on the “save changes”, but as soon as I refresh the site the background becomes white again. What am I missing?

Hi there,

This is a bug with the Customizer on WordPress.com.

We’ve already fixed the root cause, but our team is still working on fixing the changes to sites that were affected before they caught this. I’m not able to tell you how long it might be, but we’ll try to let you know here as soon as we have more information.

When I discovered the issue and called support, the first thing out of the person’s mouth was, “Well, you must have clicked on…” I cut them off and hung up. I know support teams can be third-party, but that is still not the way to address a customer. I am sharing this with you in the hopes that someone, somewhere can use this to improve customer relations, because I did not do a thing to change my theme, and being accused—right from the start—of being the reason there is a problem is intensely aggravating. As mentioned before, it did it on its own.
Again, thank you for the update and I will keep an eye out.

Note that here at WordPress.com there is no telephone support.
You may see a WordPress.com phone number if you Google but that only contains a message directing you back to help via this forum if you have a free plan or via email and Livechat if you have a paid plan. You probably called some third party company completely unconnected with WordPress.com.

No matter what I do, I cannot change the background color of my website. It used to be an orangish color, but now it is stuck on white.
If I select an image for the background, it doesn’t stay. Nothing I do will allow me to make my background what it once was.
And yes, I click on the save button after every attempt to make a change. It doesn’t fix a thing. My background is stuck on white and I don’t want it that way. My site is still broken.

@wjbusmc – thanks for letting us know! We’re finding there are a few accounts that need a manual fix by our development team as the bug fix didn’t resolve the problem.

@wjbusmc – our developer manually applied the fix to your site – can you try changing the background color of your site again? Make sure you clear your browser cache first to make sure.

While the problem with my website was frustrating, I have been very pleased with the efforts made by the WordPress team to keep me informed and to fix the issue. Thank you very much for all your efforts on my behalf. This is the kind of customer service that makes me want to remain as a customer. Again, thank you all for your efforts.
