Theme Baskerville 2 – Post Excerpt not working correctly

When turning on this feature for the home page, so of post will still show content that is placed below the read more block. Such as code for the youtube video that’s a on post.

Am I not doing something right? As it’d be neat if I could not have a whole post shown on the homepage.

    Hello @jkund17

you can set the whole post to show on the archive page, you just need to turn the function on in the customizer by going into the content options section and choose show full post like I have pointed on this screenshot below

    I hope this is helpful.

Well talking specifically about it working correctly on the homepage of my blog.

Oh, for a neat clean design without the whole content being shown on the homepage, make use of the excerpt toolbar in the post editor. Write a custom excerpt, which could be two words or one (your preference ) I’m sure even a full stop works then set the content option to show only excerpts in the customizer and you will have your clean neat design

huh, I’ll give that a try. But I was hoping that the read more block would only display the contents when you’re viewing the actual post.

  • Hi @jkund17 – It sounds like occasionally when you use the the Read More block some information below the block sneaks through on the post’s preview on the home page. That’s odd! Do you have an example this still on your site somewhere we can see? Let us know where, and give us a link to the post as well, and we’ll be happy to research that further.

the theme does that, yes, If you customize the site to show post excerpts on blog and post archives pages, the theme totally ignores the positioning of the read more block and shows information below the more block. This however is different if you set the theme to show a full post, in this case only the information before the read more block will appear.

Should it not be doing this?

But I was hoping that the read more block would only display the contents when you’re viewing the actual post.

in this case, he would need to begin his posts with a read more block, set the customizer to show full posts, and get the clean design.
