Theme: Big Brother

  I downloaded Big Brother from the info on theme info page and noticed that the HTML5 element main was not in the list which is set to “display: block;” in style.css

  If I ever want to use this theme, it does have to work with IE8 (no choice), I am going to upload the theme to my test system and add the calls to html5shiv and respond for IE8. and test it out. IE8 (XP) users still represent a substantial number of users that use the site I would ever consider putting this theme on.

  I`m sorry but you need to post to the WordPress.ORG support forum. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have different logins, features and run different versions of some themes with the same names http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

  Big Brother is only available on wordpress.com, not on wordpress.org. If you go to the theme’s info page, there is a link to download the theme for use on your own hosted site. that is what I have done to check its compatibility with IE8. works OK in FF and Chrome but not in IE8, even after making a call to the HTML5shiv and respond.js. the demo version on wordpress.com does not work well on IE8 either. unless I can figure out how to play nicely with IE8, I will have to discard it and find something else.

  I am aware that you downloaded the version for WordPress.ORG but that does not change the fact that support for it is provided in the WordPress.ORG support forums, and not here.

  BTW IE8 is an outdated browser version that has not been supported for some time now. The most recent version is IE11. Only 1.8 % of internet users are using IE8. The browsers and versions of them that are supported are found at http://browsehappy.com

  obsolete browser or not, last year, IE8 was the predominant browser used on the site I maintain. if I want to convert the site to a wordpress site, then this would need to addressed in any theme that I use. Maybe the numbers this year will be completely different, I use numbers from Google Analytics, not worldwide numbers, actual usage numbers are more relevant to me.
