Theme cannot be activated.

Hello. I want to activate the Rivington theme. They write to me that it cannot be activated. Why if it’s a free theme?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @photoausbietigheim, it looks like you have a site that wasn’t downgraded properly, so it’s kind of stuck in its last upgraded state.

I can downgrade it to a free site if you’d like. You would lose any themes / plugins you installed, and may lose content you’ve added since installing those, too. If that happens, we would not be able to get that back for you, so please clarify whether it’s okay for us to proceed or whether you want to get some backups in place first.

Hi supernovia, then I would first ask why a site wasn’t downgraded properly? The only thing I did – changed tariff. Is it okay with wordpress that all content can be lost if there is a tariff change?

By the way, on my original paid plan, I also used a free design – Illustratr. That means the changed tariff doesn’t have to affect the design – it was free from the start.

  • Hi @photoausbietigheim, you upgraded the plan and added either a plugin or theme that is not supported in the free plan.

I’m not sure how you downgraded back to free, but right now it’s kind of in limbo — still using the upgraded resources but without the controls to make changes.

If we downgrade, we will lose whatever you added after you put in an outside plugin or theme.

We can try to help you downgrade that more gracefully, but if your site relies on a plugin for certain features, those will definitely be lost.

Hi supernovia, аll the time I was on a paid plan and until today I had a free Illustratr theme !! I did not have the opportunity to change the subject after switching to the free plan, since nothing is functioning !!
What do you mean by “updated resources”? There is nothing updated, after and during the transition to the free tariff nothing changed, since nothing simply does not function!

  • Hi there,

On 19 March 2019 you bought our Premium Plan. On 19 May you upgraded to Business, and on 21 May you installed a plugin or a third party theme on that site. Installing a plugin or third party theme on a Business Plan site causes certain changes to take place to how the site is hosted on our servers, to enable you to use plugins.

On 19 May this year, your Business Plan expired, and it was removed on 26 May when you didn’t renew it.

However, your site cannot work properly without that plan, because of the aforementioned changes that took place when you installed plugins.

So we either need to add a new Business Plan to your site, or we need to revert your site back to how it was before you first installed plugins. If we go with the second option, there is a risk that any new content added to your site since 21 May 2019 may be lost. We’ll try our best that this doesn’t happen, but we cannot guarantee it.

Please confirm which option you prefer. If you want us to revert your site, please confirm that you understand the risks.
