Also im trying to get my theme to look like the demo one but it doesn’t

Hi there, I see you are using the Sela Theme. There is setup information on the Sela Theme Showcase page. I took a look at your site and your static front page has not had the Front Page Template set. Open your front page in the page editor and set that and then save/update the page.

On the menu, set up a Custom Menu and assign it to the Primary menu location. The support document tells how to create submenus.

I followed the steps for the theme setup. And I went to the homepage in the page editor and for page template they give you Default page, Front page, Full Width page and Grid page. I chose Front page

But for some reason I’m not getting the gallery images on the frontpage that they show in the demo

And all my widgets are not showing now

  • But for some reason I’m not getting the gallery images on the frontpage that they show in the demo

Which gallery images? https://selademo.wordpress.com/ does not have any gallery on the front page.

If you’re referring to the three images appearing underneath the main image, those are text widgets, to which images and preview text were manually added to highlight those three pages on the site. This process is explained under the Front-page widget areas heading in the theme instructions.

And all my widgets are not showing now

This is how this theme works. The Sidebar does not show on the front page. Only on regular pages and posts. On the front page you only have the footer widget areas, and the three special Front Page widget areas that only appear on the front page.

I wanna switch back to the shine on theme but when I search themes it doesn’t come up? Is it still available

  • Unknown's avatar

Shine On was retired, but since you have used that theme, yes, you can switch back to it. It should show up here on the second row, right: https://ibstayfly.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php.

If it doesn’t, let me know and I can switch it for you.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes I changed it back. And for this particular theme am I able to create a custom menu and submenus or does particular theme only support one menu

  • Unknown's avatar

And why did they retire the Shine On theme

  • As the web changes and new technologies emerge old themes that do not support those technologies are retired.

Imagine visiting a website that uses old web technologies with a modern web browser and not being able to read it or navigate it ;)

How can you tell the difference between old themes and new ones

  • Unknown's avatar

I changed the theme for my site. I really like this theme. And my site title shows but the tagline doesn’t

  • How can you tell the difference between old themes and new ones

Retired themes won’t be listed at My Site ->Themes, so you don’t need to be able to tell them apart – we don’t show you old themes that are no longer supported as an option.

If you’re using Appearance ->Themes in WP-Admin to switch themes, you will see retired themes that were previously activated on your site as well. In that showcase there is no way to see which themes are retired and which ones are still active, and we recommend using the showcase at My Sites ->Themes to change themes.

I changed the theme for my site. I really like this theme. And my site title shows but the tagline doesn’t

I can see the tagline, The Must Know, at the top of your site, https://ibstayfly.wordpress.com/. Or are you speaking of a different site?

  • Unknown's avatar

I don’t see the tagline on my site on my mobile phone? But maybe on desktop it will show

  • Please check on desktop and let us know.

It will also be helpful to have a screen shot of your mobile view – including which browser and operating system is in use.

How do I send screenshots through here

    Hi.
I have some troubles with my blog. Can you help me?
I use the dyad 2 theme and I don’t know how to my blog look like the demo one?
    1) The featured image that I set, always move not pinned like the demo althought I set a static page.
    2) The post format in demo is very nice, 2 posts would be in a row and include image but my blog always has posts one-to-one and don’t display image.
    My blog here: https://haancorner.wordpress.com
That’s my first time I use WP. Thank you.

Hi @haanrosie, there is information on the features of the Dyad 2 theme on the Theme Showcase page along with setup information.

On the page set as your Blog page, I see the posts set in a grid fashion, but do not see that there are any featured images set for the posts.

On the main page for your site, on screens/windows over 1200px in width, Dyad 2 had the parallax effect with the featured image where the image remains static and the content scrolls over it. On screens 1200px and narrower, the image scrolls with the content.

On the posts (blog) page, on screens 0ver 1200px , but less than 1600px in width, the posts will display in two columns. Over 1600px, the posts will show in three columns.
