Theme changed
-
I have a WordPress site and liked my theme. Today I discovered the theme changed and I hate it.
Yesterday I was creating an new site completely unrelated, could this have hosed my site?
Can it be put it back? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Is there more than one Admin on the site in question?
Please confirm the URL of the site you refer to.
Are you referring to this site http://athensdulcimerclub.wordpress.com/ and this theme https://wordpress.com/theme/minimalizine?
-
Yes my site is http://athensdulcimerclub.wordpress.com/
and minimalizine is the theme it changed to. I don’t remember the name of the old theme because I have not changed it in 6 or 7 years. -
The old theme appears to have been this one.
Is there more than one Admin on the site in question?
Did you share your login information with anyone else.?
-
The recommendation is for one Admin per site with good reason. Nothing related to site-administration is off-limits for Administrators, including deleting the entire site. This is why we recommend having only one administrator per blog.

https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#removing-usersre: hacked accounts and blogs
If anyone is posting anything to your blog or removing anything from it, or changing anything in it, or if your blog has been deleted and you did not delete it, then it’s most likely that you have provided them with the ability to do so, either deliberately by adding them as official users, or by allowing them access to your login information, or by posting content that makes it easy for them to guess what your log-in information is.
For you the question that needs to be answered is: Who, aside from me, has access to my login information?
Go to your email program immediately and change the password to a very difficult one because that’s how many hackers gain access to blogs.

You can also reset your password via your Settings tab on the WordPress.com home page:

Never leave your computer logged into your blog and walk away from it. Always log out properly.

I’m the only administrator. What happened is I was creating a brand new and unrelated blog and chose a theme. Somehow that theme got applied to my old site.

re: http://athensdulcimerclub.wordpress.com/
What is the name of the theme you previously used?
If you know it then go to https://wordpress.com/themes/ and type the name in and activate it.
If you do not know it, type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. @athensdulcimerclub were you also deleting several posts recently? If not can you please change your password right away while we investigate?
-
I wasn’t hacked. Again here’s what happened (more or less):
a. I already had a site https://athensdulcimerclub.wordpress.com
b. I created a new and unrelated site for a different purpose
c. The next day I discovered theme for the dulcimer club site had changed to the new theme of the second site I was building.
d. I could not remember the name of the old theme and could not find it in WordPress.
e. Therefore, I found another theme that was as close to the old one as possible and re-made/updated my old site to fit the new theme and in the process I deleted a lot of posts and a few pages as a matter of house cleaning.
f. Also, I purposefully made the theme for both sites the same in the homes of avoiding any bleed over.
I am willing to consider the matter closed and I appreciate you looking into this for me.

@athensdulcimerclub okay. When I checked the logs to see what your previous theme was, it looked like someone had deleted several things. Given the circumstances that seemed rather suspicious.
For what it’s worth, I was able to find the old theme. You were using Coraline. You can change the site back to that if you want that look again, but I’d recommend its updated replacement instead:
